Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 19, 2026

This policy describes the current iOS/tvOS release. Other platforms or versions may differ. ChiTV Player is a video player and source-management tool. It does not host or supply video content and does not require a separate ChiTV account.

1. On-device data

The app stores source URLs and settings, search history, watch history and progress, favorites, ratings and notes, subtitle preferences, appearance and playback settings, and a local cache of Apple purchase entitlements. If you enable an access password, the app stores its SHA-256 digest and unlock state, rather than the plaintext password. System backups may include local app data, depending on your Apple device settings.

2. Network requests and third-party services

Adding, checking, searching or playing a source sends necessary requests to services you configure and media, image or subtitle URLs they return. Operators may receive your IP address, search terms, requested URLs and playback requests, and process them under their own policies. User-configured HTTP sources are supported; HTTP traffic is unencrypted, so HTTPS is recommended. ChiTV does not control third-party content or data practices. If you configure an API or HLS proxy, it receives the relevant requests and target URLs. If proxy authentication is enabled, the SHA-256 digest of your app access password is also sent as an authentication value. Use trusted services and do not reuse passwords from other accounts as your app access password.

3. Optional iCloud sync

iCloud sync is off by default. When enabled, Apple CloudKit's private database stores and synchronizes source configurations and watch history. This can include source names and URLs, video/episode titles, poster and playback URLs, progress and viewing times, and record identifiers, a random device identifier and version metadata needed for synchronization. Video files, access passwords, search history and device speed-test results are not uploaded. Sync depends on your Apple account and iCloud settings. Turning sync off stops future synchronization but does not automatically delete existing cloud data. Deleting sources or clearing watch history in the app propagates the corresponding deletion state while sync is enabled and available. Deletion markers and necessary metadata remain to prevent older records from returning. Uninstalling does not delete iCloud data; manage app cloud data through iCloud storage settings where that option is available.

4. Purchases, tracking and advertising

Apple StoreKit handles purchases and restoration. The app reads verified transaction, product, expiration and revocation information to determine entitlements; it does not receive payment card numbers. This version integrates no third-party advertising or analytics SDK, performs no cross-app tracking and does not sell personal data.

5. Your choices

You can manage sources, clear watch or search history, remove favorites, and choose whether to enable iCloud sync. Configuration files you export may contain source URLs and settings; keep them secure. Contact the maintainer through [email protected] (mailto:[email protected]). Do not send token-bearing URLs, passwords or private viewing records.

6. Policy updates

Policy updates will be posted on this page with an updated date.
